So, we need to be clear, clearer than clear, we need to have 20:20 vision going in to 2020. This is not just any year, this is a start of a new decade, a year that is filled with optimism and a year that we can achieve anything. There is only one drawback to all this magnificient news and that is that we have to know what we want, as it will not happen without intent and manifestation.
In angel cards the number 20 is about taking responsibility and when we see it on our clocks or our calendars it is a gentle little reminder to think about the actions and consequences of your life in that moment. The year being 2020 is a daily reminder that this year has got to change the shape and the course of your life.
What is the worst thing that could happen? well of course the worst thing that could happen would be that we don’t do anything and this time next year rolls up and we are still in the same place.
Annie Lamott inspired me to think, what happens if you were to look in your car rear view mirror as you stopped at the traffic lights and were to see your 70 year old self, still married to the wrong guy, realising you never danced naked in the rain, you’d never lost that weight or you hadn’t appreciated the body you had. How would you feel if you’d never given yourself the self-love you so deserved and you hadn’t treated yourself as a priority? How would it feel if you think that you hadn’t achieved all that you were capable of or you didn’t do the charity work that you so wished you had. What about the novel you wanted to write or the dress you wanted to design, or the Argentinian tango you so wanted to try? Why didn’t you go camping under the stars & how many sun rises did you miss? What happened to those little girls’ dreams that somehow got swept under the carpet? Well my friends, I have news for you. It’s never too late to make any dream come true and going into 2020 is the perfect time to make it happen and normally that means starting before you’re ready. Otherwise you must prepare to have your heart broken and that thought is just too sad to even contemplate.
So, action is need to be ready for this cataclysmic year. You need to have a dream to make a dream come true. The first thing I do is to split areas of my life into pillars and these pillars are cemented into my foundation. So, health and wellness, relationships and connections, exercise, spirituality, sleep, rest and fun. Your next step is then to take a good hard look at each and decide where you are… what needs tweaking and that is your basic foundation.
Your path needs to be intentional and deliberate to make things move forward. There are many different tools to help you with the process, get your foundation laid out but you also need accountability. You need to write your action plan down and perhaps you need to record a little video of yourself saying it. Make a vision board or maybe journaling is more your thing, or have you heard of the morning pages? Perhaps finding yourself an accountability partner or a life coach like me, is the way to do it, we are all different and what works for some doesn’t work for all, whatever it takes, just make sure you do it.
If you are born in 1960 like myself then this year is even bigger. It symbolises that you are entering the Japanese tradition of Kanreki. It is a huge celebration where the honouree has been around the Chinese zodiac with its 12 animal years 5 times i.e. 5 x 12 = 60. Kanreki is where you decide how you want to live your live going forward. With the Kanreki intention you are now the most important person in every decision that needs to be made.
Brene Brown. Puts it so brilliants when she says, Midlife is when the universe gently places her hands upon your shoulders, pulls you close, and whispers in your ear:
I’m not screwing around. All of this pretending and performing – these coping mechanisms that you’ve developed to protect yourself from feeling inadequate and getting hurt – has to go. Your armor is preventing you from growing into your gifts. I understand that you needed these protections when you were small. I understand that you believed your armor could help you secure all of the things you needed to feel worthy and lovable, but you’re still searching and you’re more lost than ever. Time is growing short. There are unexplored adventures ahead of you. You can’t live the rest of your life worried about what other people think. You were born worthy of love and belonging. Courage and daring are coursing through your veins. You were made to live and love with your whole heart. It’s time to show up and be seen.
So, how do we show up? How do we push ourselves into The Arena? How do we decide and ensure that we are on the right journey for us now? We have to intentionally think about it, we deliberately decide, we remember what we wanted as a child, we look at our relationships, our finances, our home, our world and ask ourselves is this enough? is this what we want. We have a life to be lived every day.
Please don’t get to 1.1.20 without having given it a thought. Please take your time to consider the areas of your life that need some work, don’t let another year slip by without you taking 100% responsibility for your health, finances, connections and lifestyle.
What if you knew you were one decision away from changing your life…?
